Possible to manually remove commercials?
I use mediaMVP player, and of course, the calculated commercial skipping option isn't there. Is there some way I can use the calculated commecial data to remove them from the MPEG2 prior to viewing via mediaMVP?

Re: Possible to manually remove commercials?
You could use VideoRedo, which can read the SmartSkip file...

Re: Possible to manually remove commercials?
Just as a follow up - I now use tmpgenc mpeg editor (which I already had at the time of my posting above). It doesn't read the skip editing file, but it's so intuitive that I can usually edit all the commercials out of a whole movie in about 1 minute. Then it only takes a few minutes to resave the mpeg file (it doesn't actually re-encode it, so the quality stays the same).
As mentioned above, even the skip file is wrong sometimes, so you have to check the breaks anyway if you're using videoredo. |

Re: Possible to manually remove commercials?
VideoReDo. Live it. Learn it. Love it. Open BTV smartskip files as a project with spots pre-marked.
Rip it. Cut it. Burn it.

Re: Possible to manually remove commercials?
Here's what I used to do in btv to edit and burn...
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 I'm not sure if this is relevant these days but I did very much like the ability to do all of my editing and burning from the lounge (couch) with just a remote. These days I use a much nicer solution but with a different platform. Mick. |

Re: Possible to manually remove commercials?
TMPGenc has worked great but it didn't work on a recent file - only loaded half the file. I then tried AVIDEMUX which worked great, and it's free:
http://prdownload.berlios.de/avidemux/ Use these settings (visible on the main screen): Video:MPEG2 requant Audio:Copy Format:MPEG-PS(A+V) Also, after you do that you may have to shift it by 500 ms ("shift" parameter, also on the main screen),`but you can test it right there by hitting the play button to find out before you save the file. Edit out the commercials by clicking the A-B buttons then delete. Save when done. |

Re: Possible to manually remove commercials?
I used this for a bit as an automated solution and recommend it:
Step by Step: Video fixing, Commercial Detection, and Removal. The reason I'm suggesting it is because you can use this manually also. Write the full batch file, but don't make the mods to the customprocessing file. Then create a shortcut to the batch file on the desktop. Then if you drag the video file to it, it will process it through the script. You can customize it to delete the source, or keep it, or whatever. I personally like comskip better than smartchapter.
