Mention of Snapstream on Intel Quad Core Processors news release

I was reading this news release and found it unusual that they mentioned Snapstream:

Quote:
The four cores make quad-core based computers the ideal choice for processor intensive, highly threaded applications such asAdobe After Effects(1), Premiere Pro 2.0(1), Windows Media Encoder(1), Snapstream(1) and Win DVD(1). Combined with the availability of Microsoft Windows Vista(1), this launch marks a rare occurrence in which new processors and a new operating system hit the market about the same time.

Re: Mention of Snapstream on Intel Quad Core Processors news release

Is SS written to take advantage of the multiple processors? If not, then it won't make a difference how many processors?.....am I missing something here?

Almost all programs I run on my core 2 duo don't use both processors.....makes for great multitasking, but no improvement in transcoding (unless that program is written for it)

Not sure if it was limited to PostHaste for the post-processing, but finding the commercials and such, on 2 recordings that just ended is a possibility. But as far as making use of many processors for a single job, I doubt BTV makes use of that...

I think if you have multiple processors then showsqueeze will run multiple instances (one for each processor) concurrently. Not sure about streamsnip or smartchapters but I would assume those would as well.
