networkclient mode

I did some searches and found some articles that show how to run a full BTV lincese server in client mode.

I have two full BTV 4.x license and I am trying to run one in client mode by creating a shortcut and using this command

"c:\program files\Snapstream Media\Beyond TV\BTVD3Dshell.exe" /networkclient:192.168.2.150

but it keeps telling me that it cannot find a server on the local area network.

What else can I do to troubleshoot this.

Both computer are running 4.4

I have tried a demo version of btvlink previously, could that have caused some problems? Everything was uninstalled and the directories where also deleted (from program files and from application data)

Thanks
- J

Re: networkclient mode

Found someone mentioning that your link machine cannot have firewall running. I turned it off and it found the server.

Re: networkclient mode

You don't need to turn it off completely; essentially what happens when link starts is that it broadcasts a discovery message - all the servers then reply directly to say they are there.

If you're firewall is enabled then the servers can't respond.

However, when you use the networkclient parameter it should bypass that step and just connect blindly to that ip address. If you're still not finding servers then your cmd line parameter would appear to not be fully correct.

Can't remember the exact argument of the top of my head - but check the faq's - perhaps it's not quite right?

Re: networkclient mode

I simply added a fw rule to allow all communication from the server.

"C:\Program Files\SnapStream Media\Beyond TV\BTVD3DShell.exe" /networkclient:192.168.2.150 /networkclientpassword:xxxxx

Working like a charm ow

thanks!
