XVD- Has anyone else used this incredible software?

The video quality of XVD at a bitrate of 1500 exceeds both Divx and Windows Media at 2300. In particular take a look at the burner software that comes bundled with it- it writes the video file, adds all the necessary codecs, includes a video player and creates an autowrite file to create a disk that will run on virtually any computer without installing any software -- it runs entirely off of the disk -- and runs automatically when inserted.

Take a look-

Sounds like a version of the Xvid codec to me (very similar to DivX).

Re: XVD- Has anyone else used this incredible software?

The two are unrelated. I have been using XVD for about 2 1/2 years now and every other codec that I have tried just doesn't look as good. I recently encoded the same hour long clip using Windows Media video 9 at a bitrate of 2300, Divx version 6 at 2400 and XVD at 1500- All with 2 pass encoding. It was no contest, XVD was absolutely superior and came the closest to matching the original source material.

For more information on the technology itself, go to http://www.xvdcorp.com/xvdsite/te.html .

Nothing new here, XVD has been around since 2003. Received only so-so reviews and most find it inferior to the mainstream ones like wmp, xvid, divx and of course h264.

If it does not work with BTV/BM it is kind of pointless

No affiliation with creators of the software, I just tend to get aggressive with scoffers like bigbird999...
