Tivo-like "suggestions"?

Hey all - new here. I just switched over from MythTV and I'm delighted! MythTV may be free, but you spend all your time tweaking it, even with KnoppMyth. And in the end I could never get it to record a full show and convert it properly so my Archos AV500 could play it. All that works right out of the box with BTV!

I couldn't find any refereces to this in the forums so I thought I'd ask. How tough would it be (programming-wise) to watch what a user records and add similar "suggestions" to the record list at the lowest (or a configurable) priority? Would anyone be interested in such a plugin? Has anyone already done this?

Seems like all you'd have to do is check the upcoming recordings list periodically, then check for the actors and genres in the list, and pick things that could be recorded (based on the schedule) and stuff them into the list with the lowest (or configured) priority.

Thanks,

Bret

I am sure there would be some interest. StephaneM Web-based program guide does have something along those lines.

Yeah, BTV doesn't have this, but I'm not sure how often I'd use it anyway. There is Buzz, which shows popular shows recorded from BTV users with the advanced features turned on during setup:

Re: Tivo-like "suggestions"?

I have discussed this extensively with a BTV developer, including several new and exciting ways of implementing the feature.

Its not the next big feature , but last I heard it was on the "list" Where exactly it is on the list is anyones guess.
