Basic TV viewer

I am trying to use Amcap to preview TV, but I can't seem to get audio working. Video is displayed clearly, but it looks like the programs are using my audio card to capture the audio from. Even when I try other programs such as DCscaler it doesn't play audio. PVR such as BeyondTV, GBPVR give me audio. Just not the simply TV viewer programs.

Re: Using 250BTV with Amcap

It never worked for me either. Amcap is only good to verify the basic operation on the HW encoder Hauppauge cards like the 250BTV, and then you just trust that the audio works. Or at least I never figured it out, either.

Re: Using 250BTV with Amcap

Amcap has been buggy for me when I have used it as a diagnostic tool. Sometimes the image freezes and hangs, sometimes there is no audio, etc.

I find that using Windows Movie Maker as a diagnostic tool works well. It is limited in options for tuning, but it has basic ones like channel, input and more.

Re: Using 250BTV with Amcap

I tried using DSscaler also and wouldn't get audio though.

What is the best super basic program to view TV? I have been using Orb for all my recording, but Live TV watching when I am on the PC isn't the best.

I feel like having one of these super giant PVR programs like BeyondTV, GBPVR, SageTV or something like that is both a waist of memory and space. All I need is something to view TV and let me change channels.
