The perfect addition to the extreme HTPC

I had to choke when I saw this...

If you're on a quest to build the perfect and extreme HTPC, you do not want to pass on this deal! For just a little under $12,000US, you can get yourself an 8ft perfection in speaker cabling (tongue firmly in cheek).

I wonder if it comes as a pair or if it's just one cable.

Thought I'd share... hehe

Geez if one spends that much on cabling you have to wonder what kind of TV they will purchase...

I have those. It was kind of a ripoff, though, since I'm only getting about $10,000 worth of performance out of them .

I just make all my cabling out old wires...the ones I ripped out of the walls at the old mill down the road

That has to be a mistake, maybe a couple of decimals off?

Re: The perfect addition to the extreme HTPC

I don't think its a mistake. Look at the other cables in that brand

The one for $12,000 is special order though so it might take a while to get it once you order it....

Re: The perfect addition to the extreme HTPC

I've always found the amount of money audiophiles are willing to spend on cabling to be amazing. I remember going to a home theater store looking for some audio cabling and getting an academic-ish paper on this one company's cabling -- had a bunch of equations and stuff in it, nothing I could make any sense of. When I saw the pricetag, I realized that I was no audiophile and that I was in the wrong place. I ended up at Home Depot and bought my speaker wire there, operating under the theory of higher gauge = better speaker wire. :-)

Re: The perfect addition to the extreme HTPC

Has anyone tried using Cat cable for speaker wire? I have and to me it sounds crisper. Google it and you can read other opinions

Re: The perfect addition to the extreme HTPC

Apparently the $12,000 cables are only mid range. You can pay up to $35,000 http://216.239.51.104/search?q=cache...ient=firefox-a

It's the same cable (Audioquest Everest), but you can customise it in lenght and others.
