What *new* features do you want?

Its always good to ask your wife what she wants in the system.

1) Going back to the chapter skip feature, it would be better if the chapter skip showed the 1 second of blank screen every time. Right now when you skip to the end of the commerical, it seems to always get the first frame of the actual show. The problem with it being that exact is that you often think that it screwed up and it missed the beginning of the show. So, you pick up the remote and skip backwards 7 seconds only to find out that it was perfect and you just wasted 7 seconds watching a commercial.

If the chapter skip had of showed you the 1 second before the show started, it would be much better.

So as I was writing this, my wife came over and gave me a list.

2) Before BTV I used to use myHTPC combined with PowerDVD. The great thing about PowerDVD is that it has this feature of being able to play double time with audio. That was great for watching something like "Inside the Actor's Studio" which is almost all talking and no action. You could whip through one of those shows in no time.

BTV doesn't even seem to be able to do any sort of fast forward let alone a 2x w/ audio. But boy do we miss that feature.


3) It would be nice to be able to sort a directory alphabetically instead of chronologically. I have a kids directory that has a few hundred shows in it. Alphabetically is the only way to go. Even when I view by series there are some kids series that have 50 + shows in them. (I have a big raid drive. )

4) We have the movie network. Each month we get the magazine in the mail that says what movies are playing that month. We mark up the magazine and then go through the process of marking them for recording. The problem is, we don't want the movies to go into the default directory. I would like a way to say "all recordings I enter now go into a specific directory until I say differently" or I would like a way from the web Admin to do a mass change of all the recordings I select to go to a different directory.

This is a long thread, but I will add my .0125 cents...

I've often wanted a way to "pause" a recording job so none of that show will get recorded until I un-pause the job. This is especially usefull when going on vacation so I don't have to delete jobs before I leave and re-create them when I come back.

1) True Closed Caption Support including CC on Mute - I don't care about CC on Mute, although it'd be nice, just gimme CC! Even if it's limited to just a particular type of encoder like the Theater 550, anything is better than having to hack an outdated PVR-250 with a computer science degree. CC PLEASE!

2) Color-Coded Guide - when I saw a screencap of a competitor's EPG, I was jealous!

4) Fix the BTV bug where it records shows with the wrong job settings/quality:
