Re: What *new* features do you want?

* Firewire recording (this benefits not just HDTV, but generally digital SD - at least in my neck of the woods).
* QAM recording
* Distributed recording (dispatching recording jobs to multiple servers)
* Distributed encoding (dispatching encoding jobs to multiple servers)

I don't give a fig about BTV/BM integration, and can't figure out why everyone gets so worked up about it.

I realize this, and have configured my link machines this way, but it seems like an unnecessary additional step. Is there a scenario in which a single BTV server is discoverd on the local network, but you *don't* want to connect to it? At least to me, it seems logical that you'd want to connect to the server, and only prompt when more than one server is discovered.

Adding a Web Admin option to "auto-connect Link to BTV server" would be applicable to 99% of BTV users, and would eliminate the need to edit shortcuts on every Link machine.

Re: What *new* features do you want?

BM Integration was/is always the showstopper for me.
Pip would be nice.
QAM support is high on my list and would definetly get me excited.

BM bugfixes (improved music experience, mostly)
Intelligent recording / suggestions
Get episode info from IMDB / record entire series
Default recording folder per tuner

Re: What *new* features do you want?

1. For multi-tuner systems, Upcoming Recordingings should offer an optional, multi-tuner view that displays a grid so you can see what tuner is recording what program at what time (each tuner has its own column). I've seen this elsewhere and it is an amazing tool for multi-tuner users.

2. BTV need more legible, "10-foot" fonts, or at least the ability to pick from several, already-provided fonts. On some TVs, the menu fonts are small and hard to read, even at 800x600.

3. Beyond Media really needs to be integrated into BTV. I understand selling it as separate product to offer BTV for less $, but you can still do that by offering it as a plug-in for BTV. We all love BTV, but most of us are really looking for that "Media Center" experience in our living room.

4. How about an FM tuner "guide" and the ability to schedule recordings similar to a regular tuner. This would be a great differentiator from competition.

5. Firefly remote buttons B, C and D should do something by default, such as start LiveTV, jump to Recordings, etc.

6. The ability to have multiple recording directories should be available so users can add additional storage as needed without having to RAID or span disks if they don't want to.

Thank you and keep up the great work!

Re: What *new* features do you want?

I will keep mine short and these shlould be easy to impliment. I am a fan of ReplayTV and love some of it's functions non advertized functions.

3. Fire Wire Recording. Even if implimented as a manual record initially. But, BTV would have to look like a TV display to the Cable/SAT box. Firewire would fail to connect on most boxes. I am not trying to get around DRM, I want to recored/archive non DRM media.

PVR to Go Feature: I have a laptop with a client installed, perhaps I could download a few shows to that client and watch them on the road.

I would love to see both of these. The laptop feature would definitely get used when I travel!

1. "Modify the skip function" The "skip" forward or "jump back" (or "instant replay" which ever one calls it.) can be augmented with a number. For example: type in "3" followed by "Skip" would jump ahead in the recorded program by 3 minutes. Likewise "10" followed by "jump back" would jump back 10 minutes in the program.
Here is a variation on this theme.

Often the chapter mark is wrong. So what I do now is I press "skip ahead by 30 seconds" first as this brings up the play bar and shows me if there is a proper chapter mark. Then if there is, I skip forward by the chapter mark.

The reason I go through this two step process is because I can't trust the chapter marks and the consequences of the chapter mark being wrong are huge because I don't know where I am so I can't get back easily.

Give this, I personally would implement a feature that drops a temporary chapter mark at the point where I was when I hit chapter skip ahead. I would color it red or some other color on the play bar. Then if I hit chapter skip backward I would get back to the temporary mark. This allows me to "undo" my use of chapter skip if the chapter skip is incorrect. Having the ability to undo, allows me to "try " the feature without worrying about the consequence of it being wrong.

So to summarize:
I press chapter skip forward and it puts a temp chapter mark where I was when I pressed the button.
The play bar shows up to show me if the chapter mark was in the correct spot.
The play bar marks the temp chapter mark with a different color mark.
If I press the skip chapter back button, I jump back to the chapter mark.

Of course this works going backwards too.

Re: What *new* features do you want?

Here is one my wife asks for every time we pick a recorded movie to watch.

Please put the length of the recording up at the show listing of the Recorded shows. This would allow us to pick a movie based on length without having to navigate into the show info screen of each and every movie we have recorded.

If the length was shown at the top level, then we could quickly scan the list for the movie that is the appropriate length for the amount of time we have to watch a movie.
