Multiple questions

1. Are closed captions available in either direct view or in recorded TV?

2. Is it possible to direct view two channels on one computer monitor? Objective is to watch two football games at once.

3. Is there any better choice than Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-500 MCE for use with SnapStream for multiple channel recording?

4. I understand that Win XP-MCE is not a requirement for SnapStream. Is there a problem if Win XP-MCE is present? Is Win XP-Home sufficient?

5. Is there a forum search function somewhere?

Re: Multiple questions

1. No, not at the moment.

2. Viewing two pictures on the same computer at one time isn't possible. It is possible to use Beyond TV Link on a second PC and to watch another live TV stream or a recorded TV show at the same time. And if you wanted to watch live TV of two different channels, you'd need at least two tuners.

3. You could also use two PVR-150s in one computer (or two of most any card, for that matter). If you are specifically looking for a single PCI card with dual tuners, the only other such card that I know of is the nVidia DualTV MCE. There's more information about multiple tuners in Beyond TV here:
http://snapstream.helpserve.com/inde...articleid=1269

4. Windows XP Home is sufficient. Windows XP MCE can be present too, but because of the way MCE locks the tuners in a system, you'll have to do manual work to get Beyond TV to work on an MCE system. See these two KB articles:
http://snapstream.helpserve.com/inde...articleid=1337
http://snapstream.helpserve.com/inde...articleid=1346

5. At the top of every page on www.snapstream.com is a search which includes all forum pages. This search is powered by our Google Mini search appliance (http://blogs.snapstream.com/2005/04/22/google-mini/). Otherwise, the forum's built-in search capabilities can be accessed here:

Re: Multiple questions

You can get closed captions using a workaround with the pvr-250, not sure about the 150 or the 500. Search the forums for closed captioning and it is heavily discussed.

Incidentally, the CC and PIP have been on the request list for a while, no word on when they might get addressed. While PIP should be feesible, would you be able to split audio, say one sound card, but convert stereo to one source left and other right, or two sound cards one per source (never tried that). Ideally, both will get impemented and you could chose one source with audio and the second source automatically displays CC.

These are two areas where btv does need work, (there are others, dvb, firewire) hopefully they will be addressed soon. (or immediately after BM fixes)
