Sorry.. I misread this email. It's "latest", not "last".

Rakesh:

Thanks for the clarification and the licensing model, and keep up the great work.

Marc: no worries, thanks for double-checking the email.

This is a question that I've always tossed around in my head as I've thought, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if we could give Beyond TV away for free and just make money on targeted advertising... advertising, in turn, that was actually useful/helpful to users."
I agree with pwlong (about both the ads and the product!). I think I'd rather keep the current BTV scheme and pay without any ads.

But if it became a necessary trade-off in order to continue the product development, the most desirable location for such ads would be in the top right or left corner with 1/3 of the "banner area" used (1/2 maximum). And I would want the top drop-down navigation menu (back, home, windowed, arrows) to drop down in a layer on top of the ads.

Cheers,
Bryan

Re: Comcast banners in the guide

About possible ads in a possibly free BTV :
I would love to see three options:
1) 10-15 days free without ads as a demo
2) Stays free after the initial days but will start showing ads
3) Pay for the license and ads will disappear again

Personally I would pay for it to be ad free.

As to where to put the ads:
1) Bottom of the guide screen
2) Somewhere on the side of the main menu
3) NOT on live / playback of TV. You'll never find a good place where it won't overlay something
4) Transparent on top of anything. Again, I don't think you will be able to find a good spot
