Finished my Home Threatre in the basement

Sorry to bother you guys but I'm just really excited about finally getting my Home Theatre put into the basement. I had been planning this for about 5 years. I finally saw this basement finishing stuff with owens corning (http://www.owenscorning.com/around/bfs/index.asp) and decided it was now or never. I added some picks to the Snapstream Living Room PCs flickr page ( http://www.flickr.com/groups/snapstream/pool/ )

Re: Finished my Home Threatre in the basement

Looks real nice. I saw this last year when I was looking into getting my basement finished. The estimates I got for "standard" finishing were so outrageously expensive that I didn't do it. Do you have any idea how the cost of this compares to "standard" finishing? Thanks.

As far as I can tell, I think it is a little more than standard. All they do is install the walls, ceiling, outlets, switches and cam lights. I bought the sconces separately and they put those in for me. I paid extra for the detail on the tray ceiling. The salesman gave me a 10% discount - if you believe salesmen. I paid the contractor ~$28,000 for his work. Excluding the HTPC, power amp and projector (include the speakers), it cost me about $42,000 for what you see plus a bar on the other side you don't see. I built the bar from unfinished cabinets from lowes but I haven't put a countertop on it yet so no picture.

Here are a few more details on what went into it. The ceiling tiles only came in white. I painted them blue myself. I installed the starlight ceiling myself parts from www.wiedamark.com ~$900. The two hidden door bookshelfs cost me ~$5000 from www.hideadoor.com . They were unfinished so I had to stain them myself. The component cabinet and front bookcase cost ~$500. They are just pieces of furniture I bought on the web and put together. The basement installer framed them in for me. The carpet was a little more expensive than normal ~$4000 - not allowing pets or kids with drinks or food in the basement for now. Bought the speakers for the looks ~$2500 but they sound good too.

Any other questions I'd be glad to answer.

Edit: The square footage that was finished was about 400 sq ft. 15x27

Beautiful setup! CEDIA has some sort of home theater contest, you should enter your basement there.
