Re: Snapstream on a quest to get publicity?

I realise the title of my thread may sound a bit harsh. At first, I find it odd that SS would go to Betanews and it sounded like an opportunity to get some publicity.

The company plans to eventually turn the service, code-named "Columbus," into a social networking site that revolves around various television shows.

So basically forums for TV shows that you could access live while watching the show? Or maybe a chat room displayed live while watching the show?

Sounds like most of us...

Re: Snapstream on a quest to get publicity?

It definitely wasn't a quest to get publicity. :-) We just as soon not talk about new things we're working on until we're ready to release them. We're just looking for beta testers for this new service and back when we first got started with Beyond TV (then Personal Video Station) BetaNews was a great source of beta testers for us.

We haven't gone out to Beyond TV beta testers for interest in the Columbus beta because we didn't want to draw too many people away from Beyond TV beta testing. But anyone that's interested is welcome to complete they survey (it's linked to from the betanews article)

Rakesh,
I don't think you have to worry about drawing people away from BTV testing. Many of us are "crazy" enough to work on and be passionate about any Snapstream related beta. There are a buch of us passionate users. Sometimes thats good and sometimes thats a pain

That was actually kind of my opinion too when Zack and I talked about it. So please do sign-up...

We have a lot to thank users/beta testers like you for.

Nah, just stupid!

Seriously you're talking about a company which sells a product, and you express surprise or indignation that said company wants (gasp) PUBLICITY?

How long have you been on Earth? Doing okay picking up our customs?

Re: Snapstream on a quest to get publicity?

I wondered how long it would take for this thread to turn this way.

One question...Don't all companys want publicity? (i.e. Advertising?)

Very curious as to what it's all about.
