Re: Snapstream on a quest to get publicity?

a quest for publicity is a GOOD thing for a company and also for us users. More customers will bring more revenue and more feedback which will lead to more features for us. I actually want SS to do more to get publicity.

Same here. I've noticed a push lately on increasing their exposure through their blog and subsequent links to that story being repeated on HTPC/Tech related blogs out there.

Re: Snapstream on a quest to get publicity?

Frankly I'd LOVE a centralized place where I could go to discuss any of my many favorite shows. I don't do that at present because said discussions are all over the web at different sites. What a coup it would be for SS to have this central site where I could pick out a show and discuss it.

I have also enjoyed the new feature already out showing "Recording Statistics" Especially the "upcoming" ones. I've found some interesting shows there and based on their popularity tried them out and become "hooked". I otherwise would have ignored them. I'd like to see that feature also added to this centralized place.

View reactions to shows. Find your favorites and discuss them. Find listings of shows and their popularity and listing of the most popular upcoming recordings .. all in one place.

For instance I really thought the 200th episode of Stargate SG-1 was a bit "lame". Kinda disappointed in it.

LAME? That doesn't even begin to cover it. The episode stunk. What a big dissappointment, especially the Furlings!

Let's get this thread off topic as the initial topic was going bad.

Totally agree; that episode reminded me of so many of the Holodeck expisodes in Star Trek:TNG. Run out of ideas? Let's just throw a bunch of crap at the screen and see what sticks.

Re: Snapstream on a quest to get publicity?

Well there you go Snapstream. See how much we need a place to gather and discuss this "important" stuff? I'd LOVE to discuss this more .. but as of now this isn't really the place .. Build it and they WILL come. (and thank you for it)

'nuff said.

Re: Snapstream on a quest to get publicity?

Well SS doesn't have to look very hard for good publicity... the cover story of the October issue of Maximum PC is "Build the Ultimate Media Center PC" and they couldn't have praised BTV/BM any more than they did by rating it well above MythTV and MCE2005. Keep up the good work SS!!

Re: Snapstream on a quest to get publicity?

I filed out my betaapplication. I agree with you Rich. SG1 200th episode was lame! Seriously, I think this is a great way to discuss shows and to have it in one forum instead of spread out over the internet. Snapstream could give TWOP a run for its money!

We haven't gone out to Beyond TV beta testers for interest in the Columbus beta because we didn't want to draw too many people away from Beyond TV beta testing. But anyone that's interested is welcome to complete they survey (it's linked to from the betanews article)
Has this "project Columbus" beta made any progress? I haven't heard any more about it and I signed up to contribute.

I've always wondered why a section never developed like this in the forums, I think that it's a great idea. I also signed up today.

Wait a minute! You can't tell me that you didn't think "Ship In A Bottle" wasn't at least interesting. At least I think that was the episode name. You know the one where lines of reality and "Holodeck" were blurred.

Re: Snapstream on a quest to get publicity?

Nothing's yet happened with the first Columbus beta. To set expectations at the right level, to begin with there isn't going to be a lot of community. But there's still at least one or two very cool things in there.

Stay tuned...
