I think that Windows Media Player in XP is the best player out there right now.

Actually, an excellent Media Player replacement is Zoom Player. It is extremely configurable and is one of the best software DVD players in existence. The author - Blight - is a coding maniac and updates the software almost daily! Well, weekly anyway.
