Pinnacle supported ??

Hi,
I read here: <http://discuss.snapstream.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000083.html>
that Pinnacle card are not supported. This was posted a while back and I 'm wondering if something has changed since then?
I have a Pinnacle PCTV Rave , and I eager to buy the product because I seems to do exactly what I want. However it has to work with the card I have, ofcourse....
Can somebody tell me that ?

thx,

G

This card should work if it has WDM drivers associated with it. What are the entries in device manager for this card listed under sound, volume and game controllers?

Hi,

I have a Pinnacle PCTV PCI (no rave, no pro), running SS2.0 as a service on window 2000. I'm using the snapstream beta drivers (http://www.pinnaclesys.de/support/drivers_results.asp?driver=yes&lang=2&product_id=6 18&os=6&type_id=4)

Nothing much has changed in the last few months, but I just tried again to make it work.

I had a bit of troubles with the setup, because the driver does not listen to the frequencies in the configuration of snapstream. Instead, I had to manually enter them in the registry. I found out about this trick somewhere else on this forum (sorry - i forgot where; I'm sure the search feature will help out). Furthermore, not much 3rd party TV apps seem to work now, but at least snapstream works flawlessly.

I only have to reboot every week or so, because there seems to be a memory leak in the snapstream process (could be anything including (but not limited to) ssw.exe, drivers, or windows media). SSW.exe starts out with only 8Mb of memory, but after a week it seems to need about 32Mb.

The link didn't seem to work for me. You mean the WDM beta drivers on the Pinnacle site? I downloaded those, but I'm not sure what to do with them. I've already got the standard drivers installed, so how do I use the beta drivers and get them to work with Snapstream?

The filenames of the files that came in the beta WDM drivers are: dig_ts.sys, dig_vs.sys, pinpctv.inf. What do I do with these files? I already have the standard drivers for the Pinnacle card installed, which are not WDM.

dartjeff,

Yes, those are the ones I meant.

You first need to uninstall all your existing drivers (which means that PCTV Studio etc won't work anymore). (I didn't use the buggy software anyway)

After uninstallation, reboot your machine. Windows will come up with a plug-and-play message 'new hardware found'. Use the wizard to select the driver in the new WDM package.

If that doesn't help, go into control panel and look for the Device Manager control panel (My Computer, RMB->Manage, Device Manager). Locate 'sound, video and game controllers' and locate your Pinnacle Card. Go into the properties of the board and look out for the 'update drivers'.

I hope this helps.

I got Snapstream working with a Pinnacle PCTV PCI card by installing 2 things first:

1) The German Pinnacle site has a new version of the PCTV software available that supports XP. See "http://www.pinnaclesys.de/support/drivers_results.asp?driver=yes&lang=2&product_id=6 18&os=16&type_id=4" and click on "Click here" to download it. Install it.

2) Then I downloaded and installed the "pre-alpha" Pinnacle tuner ssPCTV0102.zip from "http://www.interrorem.com/labrat/downloads/". Follow the instructions in the readme.txt in the zip file.

3) Then I installed Snapstream, specifying "Direct Show" for the capture interface, and "PCTV PCI Tuner" for the tuner interfac

You would probably have to remove any existing PCTV software and drivers before trying this, but it worked for me. And PCTV Vision still works for normal TV viewing.
