Integrating SnapStream with MS Ultimate TV
I have a Microsoft Ultimate TV, and am looking for a product that would stream
video to my PC, and thence to CD. UTV will record any show to local disk, but if a VCR is configured, can instead tape to that external device. The rest is obvious -- can I make SnapStream respond to some set of VCR commands via my IRDA interface and tape shows from the audio/video inputs connected to my UTV? |

Interesting Idea,
It just might work, use UTV to for the program guide and have it dump the shows directly to the computer. You actually wouldn't even need snapstream to do this. One of the the video recording programs that came with your capture card might work better. Maybe one could use one of those mouse recording programs. Kind of a windows batch file. I think you can just execute the file and it will move the mouse and press the buttons. This could easily start and stop a recorder program. Then you would just have to write a little program to read the infrared port and fire off the correct bat file. I'll have to think some more. Jack |

Any capture program will work for manual stuff, of course...
I have an ASUS V8200 capture card and their TV Tuner device, and they do include WDM compliant drivers. The issue is finding an application that can sort of emulate a VCR, i.e that responds at a minimum to the stop, pause and record commands via an IRDA interface. Perhaps Snapstream can via programming or will via a future release. |
