Post Realtime viewing without recording??

I don't necessarily want to record, but I want to use my desktop to "broadcast" cable tv programs over my wireless (802.11b) network and view them on my notebook. Both systems are win xp pro. The wireless network is in place and working flawlessly.

Can the snapstream products/packages do this? I was going to purchase the "SnapStream PVS 2.0 + TV Tuner (Hauppauge WinTV GO-PCI)" to do this.

Will that package do what I want? Will I be able to control the channel the desktop is broadcasting via the notebook? How many/what cable tv channels is the card included capable of tuning in?

I just didn't see anything mentioning viewing without also mentioning recording.

thanks very much for any help you can provide,
sam

I sent this original question to tech support for this device and never got a response.

Boy! I can't wait to buy this device and depend on this support group (not).

you probably didn't get a response because these questions have been answered a zillion times already. quick answer - next version will stream without initiating a recording. you'll be able to channel surf over a network. But currently a recording must be initiated in order to stream it live.

sorry mportune but you still have to record in the next version too. I was suprise about that too. The LIVE TV that is being touted in Quartz is actuatlly a TV viewing app that replacing the one that comes with your TV Tuner. So you can use snapstream as a replacement to the software that comes with your card.

As for lack of tech support look at your other post srkmscse. Snapstream is a small company and any changes in personel is a big change.
