Using S3 or S1 Settings ??

I just started messing with the Standby and Hibernate functions on my BTV Server. I use an NF-7-s2 Mobo and can not seem to get BTV link to bring it out of either S1 or S3 states. I also can not seem to get my Firefly USB to stay active so I can use it to bring it out of hibernation. I can get the server to wake up an record just fine.
What am I missing here I have tried every bios setting I could think of and also checked the usb 1 power on header on the mother board.
So any of you out there using this same or similar combo (see my sig). What are your bios and power management settinngs and what has your experience been with using standby or hibernate. My main concern is how to get BtvLink to bring it out of sleep or hibernate mode or is it just not possible.
Thanks in advance, Dave

You might need to enable the "wakeup-on lan" or such from the bios and find a program to send that wakeup call to your server (network card) before launching BTV-Link...

Have you tried playing with the "power management" part of Windows' Device manager and switching off the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option for the appropriate USB Root hub and the device?

Re: Using S3 or S1 Settings ??

I have tried everything I can think of and it looks like I will just stick to leaving my server on 24/7. I am wondering if it migh tbe possible to make a pluggin for BTvLink to send a wake on lan command when it tries to connect to the Server. I am not smart enought to know if its possible or not but it would eem to be useful tool if someone could do it.

I also have given up on getting my Firefly or or Gyration Kb/Mouse to wake up the usb port too. It seems that after reading lots of other postings around the net ,thats not an easy one either.
Who knows maybe some one will give me the magic bullet.

Poweroff is a good app for controlling standby, shutdown, and wake on lan.

On your BTV server, from control panel:
network connections-> properties of your network card-> advanced tab
check that wake on lan or wake on ping is enabled

You will want to set this in your bios also and set your bios to support S3.

Set you server to standby, then try wake on lan using poweroff from your BTV Link machine ... it will need the mac address of your server.

Also, I made a bat file to send by BTV Link machine to standby. For your bat file, this is the command to turn off BTV Link:
"C:\Program Files\SnapStream Media\Beyond TV Link\BTVD3DShell.exe" /closegui
