Re: Claims of HDCP Support in GPUs Don't Deliver the Goods

You beat me to it. Here's the slashdot discussion http://hardware.slashdot.org/hardwar...3/060232.shtml

I see a class action brewing, despite the technicalities of their support, their actions were clearly deceptive to the consumer. As soon as some enterprizing lawyer gets enough backers expect them to go for big cash payout and free upgrades on all new graphics cards.

Although I would recommend if you haven't upgraded your card yet, better wait and make noise in the process.

I am more concerned over the fact that M$ and all the crooks in the HD business are going out of their way to lock down the PC, forcing you to buy OEM's for cablecard and HD DVD/BR etc. I see a future where the only way to use your custom PC is illegally. I anticipate the future as a nation full of criminals.

SOmeone tell me if this works, as it is being my expertise. IF the cable connecting your HDCP compliant cablebox or computer going to your hdcp compliant tv or monitor had a splice coming off it, so the two parties only see each other but a third party intercepts a duplicate video/audo stream... That and DVD JOn doing some cracking, it would be thoroughly entertaining to see years of planning of this draconian content imprisonment shattered at its foundation.

Of course I'm just ranting here and in no way suggest doing anything illegal. Note the comment that while authentic BR and HDDVD disks require HDCP, pirated versions would not, wonder which will get a bigger market share?

Just remember... according to the MPAA you're all pirates, and the only thing keeping you from breaking the law out of your truly evil natures is DRM, which is your friend. /sarcasm off
