what part of the cable are you using (svid, composite, component)?

more than likely the "auto" detection didnt detect the proper output on it and it chose the wrong one, like if your using svideo and it chose composite, you will get a B/W picture typically. You can override its connections under the nvidia control util
control panel -> display -> settings -> advanced -> nvidia tab -> nview display settings, right click on the tv device and choose tv format, then advanced, in the video out format make sure its selected to the one your using

Re: weird video-out problem on 6600gt

yeah, it's connected through composite. i switched it to composite in the settings and the picture went blank. i switched it to svideo and it came up again in black and white. i'm going to go look and see if msi makes their own driver package for it. it's strange on the dongle too, because the composite out runs on the green channel of the component out. i'll let you know how it goes.

edit: damnit . . . the latest drivers they have are based on the 76 version forceware drivers, and i'm running 80 or 81. why can't they update their driver package? i really don't want to have to uninstall them and install old ones. meh, guess i'd have to.

Sounds like you've got the cabling slightly wrong.

My experience suggests that the Nvidia 78.01 driver is the latest driver that will detect a component connection (via the dongle) to a standard definition television.

Recommendation: use S-video.
