Just wondering.

*sniff* no HD here yet. I'd go get the hardware in a second if BTV had a real HD solution.

Still a good game though!

Agreed... BTV in HD worked wonders for the whole family today. Really came through under pressure! The BUS stops in Detroit!

Re: How many watched the "Big Game" in HD?

Sadly, btv locked up in the third quarter, I was agressively skipping forward/backward to catch a play, and getting quite irritated by a lot of jumpy sections, and all of a sudden it locked, no response, no ctrl-alt-del. I was forced to reboot the computer.

And here's the part that really sucked, the tp file became corrupt, it was there, all 29gb of it, but BTV didn't recognize, videoredo didn't recognize it, I got hdtv2mpr to start converting it so I could see what I missed, and it stopped after 54 minutes.

After rebooting, the game continued recording (I missed the Steelers 3rd touchdown, about 5 minutes of game time), and fortunately I remembered to tell it to record extra time (basically the post game show) So I got to see the game through the end.

I am still getting a lot of skipping and freezing frames, exiting and rentering playback fixes it, I think it gets worse the more I navigate in recordings, not sure if it is worse for recordings in progress while I watch them or not.

Either way, kinda pissed off about the file getting corrupted, and of course no rpt file or mention was made in log. I attribute it to my undersized video card, but htat excuse will only go so far...

The rest of the game was awesome, again, the dropped frames get irritating, hopefully none of you guys are getting that. When I get anxious I skip forward after every play to the next play, I think that catches up with me in HD

Amusingly, the 1000ft Hidef broadcast tower from our local ABC channel collapsed on friday and hasn't been repaired for hd broadcast yet.

Worked perfectly on both of my HDTVs (one running on the server and the other on link).

By "real" I mean something that'll work for us in major urban areas that don't have OTA

I watched in HD via my HTPC, and as always I shut down BeyondTV then fire up fusionHDTV. Clean, Crisp and perfect. Beyond is just choppy and locks up.

Re: How many watched the "Big Game" in HD?

You know, the one thing I haven't tried is another program to capture the HD data, to see if I can isolate the jumpiness. The jumps appear in the same spot, so I assume it is encoding, although I blame crashing and hesitation on my video card. I suppose I should also try playback in another player, see how that behaves.

Re: How many watched the "Big Game" in HD?

ya it was, i didn't know sharing a couple 10 second clips from an entire football game would be against the rules. Seems pretty silly to me, but it's not my forum, not my rules.

But of course, streaming recorded television over the internet is perfectly acceptable and the purpose of this software.

Re: How many watched the "Big Game" in HD?

Actually, I had the same issue, btv crashed during recording and corrupted my file, so I lost about 15 minutes (and the third touchdown)

Now, what would really be nice is if there was a way to submit proof of a corrupt file to get a replacement clip, kind of a legal tv insurance. Of course this would require revenue streams for everyone involved (none of which I am interested in paying) but otherwise opens an interesting angle. I wonder if you could argue, say with a Directv DVR, if there is a recording failure, Directv would owe you a downloadable copy of the recording (Assuming it is not broadcasting again in the immediate future)? I ask this because if Snapstream ever were to partner with the likes of cable or satelite providers (to be able to record HDTV via cablecard or something) then that could be a point of negotiation.

Sadly that brings us right back to the whole subscription issue which I am not interested in (I already pay too much for satellite and they just raised rates again!)
