DVB-T Support

What is the timeline for adding DVB-T the sooner it's added the sooner Snap Stream will get my money because it's simply the best HTPC application.

Thank you

Re: DVB-T Support

DVB-T being the european format right?

I'm curious how SS would be able to implement and test this without 100% reliance on beta testers. DVB-T test sources can be rather a pricey investment.

Re: DVB-T Support

DVB-T is the european broadcasting for OTA Digital. Analogue is being switched off over here in Europe over the next couple of years and if any PVR player wants to be serious in Europe then they need to support DVB cards.

Whilst I have to say that BTV and Beyond Media is the best by far PVR system I have had to stop using it in favour of XP MCE as I can use the DVB channels directly into my PC, no messing about with STB and irblasters. The software might not be as good but it allows me to get my content without any digital to analogue conversion going on.

I have my 3.x licenses but there is no point in me shelling out for 4.x license upgrades until the DVB support is there.

I for one would be more then happy to test for them, and I suspect other users in Europe would be prepared to test as well to get DVB support into the product. If one man band gb-pvr can get ATSC tuners working from where he has no ATSC broadcasts then I don't see why a proper business can't get DVB working.

If snapstream aren't going to add DVB support then they might just as well close there European sites up and declare US/Canada users only for the software. Which would be a real pity as the software is the best out there.

The conspicuous silence from Snapstream regarding DVB support however doesn't fill me with much hope however.

I maybe wrong but, for SS implementing DVB now is just as simple as handling the tuning part of DVB through BDA abstraction. Other than that it is pretty similar to ATSC.

Moreover I'm sure they can have some dev. resources from their existing partners like DVICO that actually make both ATSC and DVB tuners (it's pretty the same hardware/drivers).

And of course, then beta testers are useful. I don't see why SS can't be doing it soon as ALL other PVR softwares are already supporting DVB (including US based software company)
