Depends on which one you have. The 2004 and earlier blasters only work with MCE (they only came with one blaster bug). The 2005 blasters will work if you use girder and the MCE plugin.

clear as mud?

I used to use the MCE 2005 remote w/o grinder and it worked fine. However, you had to have Windows XP SP2 installed (or used hacked drivers). You also had you do some register hacks to disable debounce (sp?). I have notes on how I got it to work. If you need help let me know.

I am trying this same thing BankZ, so your notes would be helpful to us both if you would share them!

Ok, sorry for the misinformation... I should have read the post better. I thought you were talking about getting the remote to work. However, reading it again, it is clear you are trying to get the blaster to work. Sorry, I can't help.

However, I do have an external box and found IR blasting to be unreliable (using USBIRIT). I am using a serial cable and it works a lot better. However, this is not an option for all external boxes.

I have used a USBUIRT for over a year on 3 satalite receivers and I have never missed a show once...ever. I think a lot of it has to do with your setup and configuration.

The MCE remote's IR blaster is not something that works natively with Beyond TV.

Microsoft hasn't made any SDKs available to 3rd parties like us, so they are effectively inaccessible to us. I read somewhere that someone had tapped into the MCE remote's IR blaster with Girder, so maybe there's a plugin out there that you could use with Beyond TV.

Can you control more than one source with one USB-UIRT?

Please take a look at my thread, here, on this subject.

*EDIT* Forgot the link:

Can I control four digital cable boxes with one USB-UIRT?
