Is It Possible to View Local Channels HDTV through cable line?

I know encrypted premium channels like HBO is not possible to view on pc with Dvico USB HDTV card, but what I am not sure about is if it possible to watch local channels (ABC, NBC, CBS) broadcasted in HDTV over cable line (I have just extended basic service with COX cable) rather then using OTA antenna for HDTV (I get bad reception)? If it is not supported in Beyond TV yet, is it possible with the dvico software? thanks...

It (recording via QAM) is not supported in BTV, but yes, it can be done with the DVICO software, but obviously you cannot be using that tuner with BTV at the same time. We (owners of Fusion cards) are hoping BTV supports QAM soon, but no guarantees or time frame yet.

I believe that this depends on your cable co - some may encrypt all channels, others may only encrypt non-OTA channels.

Re: Is It Possible to View Local Channels HDTV through cable line?

Thanks for the info, I was able to recieve 2 channels on unencrypted CAM that were high definition (PBS and Music HD) unfortunately they dont broadcast the local channels in HD just normal analog (even though it is on digital channel and FusionHDTV says it is 480i it looks like normal cable to me and certainly Jay Leno should be 1080i), I thought it was law that the cable co's had to carry local channels unencrypted in HD? Anyways with the OTA broadcasts, I can either catch CBS & UPN or have the antenna turned in another direction and get ABC and Warner Brothers. What to do..hmm....

Call your cable co as I am pretty sure too that they do have to provide the HD locals unencrypted by law... Most likely they are just being lazy or don't know any better.
