Dell Axim X51V / HP 2795?

Anyone got/seen/tried either the Dell Axim X51v or HP 2795 ipaq?

I've got my eyes on one as a replacement. The dell at least is going for about 290-300 new on ebay compared to a 500 list price (400 with the 20% off dell is doing atm)

it's a vga (640x480 resolution) 624 Mhz processor. It sounds ideal but I'm wondering how the running from flash memory might impact on folks using a PDA like this for tv viewing via web etc.

Re: Dell Axim X51V / HP 2795?

x50v here (same thing w/o wmobo5). I love it. It has both CF and SD...right now im running on a GB in each, but plan to get a microdrive so i dont need to showsqueeze. I love my x50v, as the screen is gorgeous against anything, it has both wifi for internet, and bluetooth for audio (not the greatest sound on bt headset), plus it has EVERYTHING. I was thinking about gettting a PMC or an iPod/PSP, but realized that this little baby does everything. Lemme know any questions, id be happy to help you out!

Re: Dell Axim X51V / HP 2795?

I'm kinda interested in how the new mobile 5.0 performs; the switch to run from flash instead of rom specifically. I liked how the mobile 2003 ran on my rx3115 pda - not sure if I'll care about the slight speed hit on flash based data access. Data loss was never an issue for me. I consider the whole device volatile so don't keep anything on it that's important.

My most likely usage though would be streaming video from btv. Ideally I'd liked to be able to play 720x480 mpeg2's directly as recorded by btv. (6-9Mbps bitrate peak). I know the screen is 640x480 - a little aspect ratio compression doesn't bother me, but if I can open the mpgs directly on this baby and play them at 29.97 fps I'm a happy chap. I wonder if the video accelerator handled deinterlacing well ?

Re: Dell Axim X51V / HP 2795?

I have the x51v. I like it a lot, but it will not keep up with a high bitrate -- loses sync.

I've only tried wmv, not mpeg (I showsqueeze then commercial cut).

I'm running 1.6mbps and it is still too high.

I'm going to try dropping it down.
