Question Video loop

Has anyone seen this?

With a ATI 8500DV when I record a Show, I can only use Direct show. (this was the fix for no video, only a blue static)
But now the video is in a loop, as soon as I press play I see kids running down a street then it goes back to the beginning again kids running down a street. Over and Over until the video is done. Sound is there and is not looped?
I tried this with ATI's
Windows XP Display Drivers CATALYST™ 02.1 (This is the source of low contrast or some Gamma trouble, everything gets very dark on the desktop)
Windows XP Capture Drivers 6.13.10.6125 (This seemed to fix a lot of Dropped frames in the ATI Multimedia Center)
Multimedia Center
7.5 No Workie
7.6 No Workie
7.7 Latest No Work (same thing here, a video is recorded in AVI, MPG1, MPG2 the video capture is in a 1 or two second loop)
I have SnapStream lite, I do not want to purchase this software until I get it to work on my system.

And since I can only record in Direct show does this mean if I connect a satellite to the system I will not be able to record it?

My System

Soyo Dragon +
AMD 2000
ATI 8500DV
640 Meg
60 Gig
Win XP Professional

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you
Jedill

You should be able to change the direct show video input under the video sources option in the configuration section of SnapStream. This should allow you to connect other input types.

Is the looping video problem on every video you record or just the one?

Thank you

Thank you for your direction

After further review, I have come to the startling conclusion.. I never knew how macrovision worked, now I do. So "note to self" Do not use your daughters Barney tape to test capturing video with the 8500DV (or I bet any ATI card) and if you use a camcorder do not use the AV jacks on the front of the VCR to try and send the video to the 8500DV as well. After I connected the camcorder directly to the 8500DV it all magically worked (magic is the term I use to express my ignorance on the macrovision subject).

So no snap stream will have a new owner as soon as I connect the satellite this weekend and run some tests.

Thank you again.

Excellent work, I'm glad to see that you have it working.
