MPEG 2 Recording

I have been enjoying SnapStream 2.0. I have
really been enjoying the ability to control
my DSS receiver box. It makes TV fun.
I have recently got a DVD burner. What
I would like to do is take some of my
favorite shows and store them on DVD so
I can watch them from a DVD player. The
problem is that the MPEG4 formats are not
readily supported with the DVD creation
software. They all seem to want MPEG2.
Is there anyway to make SnapStream to
record to MPEG2 format.
Thanks
Jack.

Not right now. Your only option is WMV. There will be some newer DVD players out soon that will support WMV though. When and who I don't know right now.

Three suggestions:

1) Build a dedicated video-PC with CD or DVD drive, burn the MPEG-4 files to your chosen media and watch from there.

2) Convert to AVI using graphedit:
http://www.google.com/search?num=50&hl=en&q=graphedit

...and then to MPEG-2 with your favourite encoding utility.

3) Try PowerVCR to encode directly to MPEG-1 or 2 if you have a powerful enough PC.

Doc.

I've tried power VCR but it doesn't
work with the Matrox ETV450 card. But the
PCVCR program will capture to MPEG2. But
it doesn't control my DTV satellite box
like snap stream.

Thanks
Jack.

You could also try iuVCR. It records in the background and uses any codec you have. It has a comprehensive scheduling function and even fixes the TVWonder sound problem AND the AVI audio/video synch problem!

I've switched and won't soon be switching back.
