Julia,
I've tried out TV Tonic on a machine w/o SnapStream and it just kept crashing. On top of that...it screwed up my WinTV.

I tried to get it working on my machine WITH SnapStream....no go. I sent a message to their tech support, and their response was that it doesn't work with Hauppage's WinTV PVR line. I was pretty mad because Hauppage links to TVTonic right on their front page, without any mention of this issue. I fought and fought with my card for hours, installing drivers, changing settings.

Want to know how to tick your customers off? There's a good way.

wow... let me add that to the list of companies that are going to be destroyed by lawsuits in about 30 seconds. we've already been through this before... broadcasting regular television in any form where the public can see it is illegal... this has already gone through the courts several times before.. it might be a little different since they're not actually doing it themselves, but anyone doing it on their own machine is asking for legal trouble.

I am not following what you are saying about broadcasting (in reference to TVTonic). All the product does is integrate the tvtuner into a browser with some addtional functionality in content.

well, my bad. my first impression was that you could save shows, and then have your friends download them from you, and comment and doodle on them while they're all streaming it off your machine. however, what is really the case, is that each of your friends would have to be watching the same show on their own machines, with their own tuner cards for that to work. obviously this wouldn't pose any issues... although... i think i'm the only one of my friends that has a tuner card... this wouldn't be all that useful.
