How to know what's on new tonight??

I used to use TVtome.com to tell me what was on new tonight. Now that it has been taken over by the new TV.com. I hate it. It doesn't tell me ALL the new stuff tonight.

What else is out there telling you what is new. If it is in HD.

I want a fast/quick way to look on what's on tonight!

Well the SnapStream.net website has its ‘at a glance’ feature where you can see whats on tonight. Or perhaps tvguide.com has the features you want. I have not used tvguide.com for a long time now so I don’t remember how detailed their listings are.

Re: How to know what's on new tonight??

Wow there's a really good idea for some kind of "plug in" or option for either BTV, or BM. The current guide data already has information that it uses to determine whether a show is a repeat or first run.

It would be wonderful to have (yet another) option in perhaps the search or setup recordings areas to just give us something like a list of the next 7 days of new shows only. Oooo .. I like that!!

Re: How to know what's on new tonight??

I did some checking and have noticed something. First in the search options there are only letters available. No ( or ) or other characters. At first I thought since the existing displayed Guide usually had a "(NEW)" listed for new shows that maybe a simple search for (new) would list them. Of course there was no way to enter ( or ).

Then I found it wouldn't have helped anyway. I believe the "displayed" data on the screen is not entirely what is searched. I should have been able to find the "(new)" entries by just searching for "NEW". But every iteration of new came up EXCEPT the (NEW). So I'd have to guess that the New/Repeat as well as gendre and rating etc. comes from a different part of the data base that shows titles, synopsis and actors ??

Bottom line is the data that determines whether the on-screen display shows (NEW) or not, is not available for searching.

And adding it wouldn't really help unless they also added the ( and the ). Searching for NEW brings up EVERY new or word containing it. If we could search for the string "(NEW)" then we'd only get those new shows listed. It's a good start I think and should be easy to incorporate into the existing search. For that matter I also notice we can't search for ratings either (which would also be a wonderful addition) Oh heck .. why not add the gendre as well.

A good PVR should be able to allow us to sit down and search the EPG for Sports, Drama, Comedy etc., as well as rating or whether or not this week's listings have anything "new".

This is the one feature from the ReplayTV that I am missing the most about BTV. It had "Series Premiere" and "Season Premiere" theme channels.

Really? When I search for Pilot I get tons of shows where Pilot is in the description or show name. Almost all of them are not actual "Pilot" episodes. More like in the description like. Mr. x pilots his new plane.

How do you enter the quotes? AFAIK it can't be done.

Re: How to know what's on new tonight??

your put "pilot:" in search for description . IF I do not do quotes it searchs and find everything wiht pilot in it - pilots , copilots , piloted . Any word with pilot in it .

It does not find Stargate SG1 or Stargate Atlantis new episodes starting this Friday . There are just a new season and a mot new Show pilot episode . It does find things with pilots in the title .

Here is my search .
Results For "pilot:" in Description

Re: How to know what's on new tonight??

I cannot use the quotes in any search. They do not exist. How do you enter a search with quotes ?? I'm a little confused. Are you using the FS GUI search options as it is with the standard BTV software??

Oh wait a minute .. It looks like all those shows were set with a "remote record". Which I think means you must have been using the web admin. and not the normal GUI ??

I think here we are talkng aobut the normal FSGUI Beyond TV window.
