Re: AMD vs. Intel

Meh. We'll see if anything actually comes of this. Intel has been pulling this crap for years out in the open and getting away with it.

Intel forces the world to use their over-priced, over-rated hardware and then doesn't even bother to design decent CPUs, their flagship product. They never had to worry about competition before, so now they don't know how to adjust their business model to handle fair competition. They don't know how to compete, but they DO know how to manipulate a market, so that's their weapon.

AMD on the other hand has had to fight for their very existance for many years. They don't have extreme market entrenchment to use as a weapon. They DO know how to compete...they have to. Product quality is their ONLY weapon. They've been out-designing Intel for years on a small fraction of Intel's design budget.

When it comes down to it, that 'Intel Inside' emblem on the bezel of my case doesn't make my computer faster or more reliable. The quality of the actual CPU does. Intel has become more skilled at market manipulation than CPU designing. I'm not an AMD fanboy, but personally, I hope Intel gets clobbered. It probably won't happen, but they deserve it. AMD has worked very hard and deserves to get a fighting chance, and we as consumers deserve a pricing model, product quality, and product choice that come from fair market competition. I hope that AMD won't be the last company to challenge Intel, either. Huge wealthy companies that won't compete fairly aren't interested in innovation, technology, or anything but their bottom-line.

Intel, are you afraid of a little fair competition? You should be, because your products are no longer competitive.

Yes but not like this. Read the complaint.

btw, I had to scratch my head for a few on that "nobody didn't" comment.

Re: AMD vs. Intel

AMD and Japan successfully filed anit-monopoly in Japan with the Japan Free Trade Comission and is now suing Intel http://www.amd.com/us-en/Corporate/AboutAMD/0,,51_52_1991~99765,00.html

I am thinking it may take a bit longer in the US, but it will happen. Reading some of the evidence of the way that Intel operated, I don't see how it can't be found to be in violation.
