wireless audio/video, do they work?

Hey folks,

Do wireless audio/video devices work well? Any favorites?

I am looking at http://www.smarthome.com/76540.html now, but have only just started.

I will be going from the living room to the room directly above the living room.

Thanks,
-Brett

Re: wireless audio/video, do they work?

Brett:

I looked at the specs for the one you mentioned -- interesting -- at 5GHz they say 300ft range -- Line Of Sight -- that is rather odd in itself -- those models should give limited range at that frequency..

I would investigate the older 900MHz models -- good performance / Great range -- should not affect wireless networking or most new cordless phones...

Re: wireless audio/video, do they work?

Brett,

I got the 900Mhz version of these a couple years ago from Smarthome and they work pretty good as long as you don't try to go through too many walls, floors, big furniture, etc. I have my HTPC in the room next to my bedroom and use it to send a signal through 2 walls (a clothes closet between) and a wooden dresser on the other side, just aim the antennas at each other and it works. The thing I found most limiting was the lack of an S-Video version, maybe they exist now? Regardless of whether you use RF or a wired connection to the TV, using composite video signal for computer screen work is pretty fuzzy at any resolution.

Edit:
Might want to look at this one instead
