recording vhs to hard drive -- software suggestions?

i'm trying to record old home videos on VHS to my hard disk to eventually master to dvds. anyone have any suggestions on what software to use to capture the video? im using hauppauge pvr250MCEs. ive tried their wintv2000 program (bundled) a couple times, but im not happy with the recording quality. im thinking about just using BTV adn telling to record channel 3 (where i'd put the vcr), but i was hoping for an easier way. thanks.

you can download a trial of Pinnacle Studio 9. Excelent program, and the full version is $60. I use it, and it is great!

Re: recording vhs to hard drive -- software suggestions?

I have one of my VCRs plugged into the composite of one of my 3 PVR-250s. When I want to transfer something from VHS I just record it using BTV. It is then a very simple task to edit and burn to DVD.

If you search the forums I believe there is a post about doing this and how to setup BTV to make it easier to choose the VCR as a source from the Viewscape.

Those are good references you guys posted. This was the one I had in mind though.

Capturing from a VCR - using viewscape!

Yea, but it's still relevant to someone.
