Re: Control Cable Box from Firewire

Still need to know if there is anyway of knowing if the box is on or off. You always get a return code 0 from the power command.

Thanks

Re: Control Cable Box from Firewire

Hi

I need a little help with getting my 4200HD Cablebox working with Firewire. I followed all the instructions in this thread but BTV won't change channels. Here is where I am.

--I downloaded and installed the "stb_firewire_drivers_2009-02-25.zip" from "http://home.comcast.net/~exdeus/stbfirewire/"

--I downloaded and installed the "firestb.msi" file from "file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/HTPC1/Desktop/BTV%20FIREWIRE/readme.htm"

--The Drivers installed Ok and the devices show in the Device Manager under "imaging devices"

--I copied the "channel.dll" from ""C:\Program Files\Timmmoore\MCE 2005 STB Controller" to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Beyond TV\tuner"

**I looked in the registry to change the arguments under HKLM/SOFTWARE/Timmmore/ but it's not there. There is no Timmmore in the registry at all!

--I tested via the command prompt using the channel -a0 -f 2 30 command and it changes the channel fine.

--I ran the setup wizard and "Firewire STB Channel Changer" shows up but when I choose it and finish the configuration setup BTV wont change channels.

Can anyone help me with what I'm doing wrong. Thanks!

Re: Control Cable Box from Firewire

If I remember right, the Timmmoore registry folder doesn't show up until after you run the Setup Wizard. I ran into the same thing, manually created some of the registry settings, then later the rest of them were there.

Changing channels in the Setup Wizard will fail as you noticed, but I think if you go look in the registry now you will see some of the registry settings now and you can add the extra commands you need.

Re: Control Cable Box from Firewire

I had it working fine until Cablevision of NJ downloaded some firmware and then it stopped working. Had to resort to using the USB-IRT device which works just fine.

Thanks! That did the trick. I was using a USB-UIRT which works fine but the cable box changed channels SO slow. I thought that by using Firewire it would go much faster. Pretty disappointing that it's just as slow. I hear the 4250HD's are faster than the 4200HD I have.

Re: Control Cable Box from Firewire

I have the same problem with no Timmmoore registry entries, but on Windows 7 Home Premium. I ran the BTV setup wizard and changed to the Timmmoore tuner in advanced settings in the web admin, still no joy. Can someone provide what the registry entries should be and I'll add them manually? Channel change from DOS prompt works fine, I just need to hook up BTV and we're off.

Thanks,

Bob

Did you attempt to actually change the channle using BTV and the tim moore plugin? That is the required step to create the initial registry entries. You can also just create them manually.
