Looking for Quality Tweaks- nVidia 6600GT

I'm now the proud owner of a GeForce 6600GT video card and I want to know if there are any tweaks to improve the playback quality.

I'm currently using the nVidia DVD Decoder and I'm using DirecTV for my source.

Picture is better than it has ever been but I feel more can be done. Are there any noise filters or other settings which could be hindering performance?

Video is working great but it just looks like there can be minor tweaks to improve things a bit.

Thanks in advance-

While LiveTV is running, have you tried opening the Nvidia decoder systray applet and playing around with the indivdual settings?

Nope. I'll have to try that- I didn't even know that was there.

THanks!

Re: Looking for Quality Tweaks- nVidia 6600GT

Has anyone figured out why we have to use hardware deinterlacing for non overlay mode for the 6600 (didnt have to for my old 5200)? If i turn it off I get no picture. Whats more annoying is that if I turn on hardware acceleration in the nvidia decoder applet with hardware deinterlacing the picture basically locks up (goes super choppy then hangs when I try to quit).

I read another post simply stating that you had to have hardware deinterlacing on but no reason why. Anyone else find this odd?

PS: One thing I found that helped a lot with the guide and other text display onscreen was to fiddle with the "flicker adjustment" in the nvidias TV out options. Bring it all the way to the left then move it slowly to the right and you'll hit a spot where it just snaps into focus. That helped me a lot with tickers and reading the guide/program info. ( tip added to avoid a total hijack )

Thumbs up Re: Looking for Quality Tweaks- nVidia 6600GT

Thanks...these tips worked and worked well. This is the absolute best my system has looked so far and now that I've turned down the saturation of color, everything looks great.

I can now say that my quest is over and no more jacking with my system to get the picture quality I longed for.

Video BLISS!!
