Moto 2224 Power On

I am using BTV with a USB UIRT and have a Comcast 2224 cable set top box. Everything works fine. My issue is that my family, when using the comcast remote, sometime switch the cable box off. Of course, this prevents my recording sessions from receiving video.

I can program the UIRT to turn the cable box on, however, the function is a toggle off/on. If it is already on, I will turn it off!

So:

1) Is there anyway to know the status of the box (on/off) using Girder or any other tools?
2) Does the serial cable control have different functionality than the IR?
3) Apart from preventing my family from using the COmcast remote, is there anyway anyone has used to solve this issue?

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Re: Moto 2224 Power On

What you probably should do is get a second cable box for your BTV machine.
Serial cable control will not turn the box on. And always there's going to be someone around to switch channels on you anyway ..
