Re: IGCutter v0.5 beta released

Well I had 2 errors out of 6 cuts on 1 hr with software mpeg2 . Maybe my cuts was in the wrong spot or the file was bad . The file source is 1.78GB . Is there a 1 gig file limit because some boundary ? I have to try some more later. Anyone have a good cut with mpeg2 for a 1 hr file ?

Thanks for the work. It is nice to have free mpeg2 cutter .

Re: IGCutter v0.5 beta released

Considering all the changes I had to make to mpgtx to get PVR-250-generated MPEG-2's recognized correctly, I guess I should expect more problems :/. Could you send me a short clip that exhibits your problem?

One change I added was support for >2gb files, so the size shouldn't matter. I've cut a 2h, 5gb show with no problems.

Re: IGCutter v0.5 beta released

I like the new release. I am especially excited that I can cut MPEG files with IGCutter, but when I tried it this evening, I discovered that it takes a looong time between the time I press the RIGHT CURSOR key (to advance in the MPEG) and the time the update actually happens... About 8-15 seconds, as a matter of fact.

Is there some optimization that could be done? WMV files work just the same as before; it's just the MPEGs that are S-L-O-W.

Re: IGCutter v0.5 beta released

Hmm, my guess would be that it's caused by your default MPEG-2 decoder, since it's been working fine for me (nVidia DVD Decoder); does seeking in WMP take that long too?

Re: IGCutter v0.5 beta released

WMP does not take long at all... WMP is just fine -- working just like it (and just as fast) did in previous versions.

Where can I set the default MPEG-2 decoder for IGcutter?

Also -- this is a new issue... I've got my IGCutter configured in KEEP trim mode, and I noticed that pressing "R" only removes the ENDING cut definition but will not remove the STARTING cut definition. (I don't know if this is also true in the CUT trim mode since I don't use it.) Perhaps I am envisioning the "R" as more of an UNDO -- if I have three cuts defined, pressing "R" several times should remove the defined cuts in the reverse order they were created... Does that make sense?

If that's too much to implement, if you could make it so "R" basically UNDID the last-defined cut (no matter if it was STARTING or ENDING a cut definition), that would satisfy me.

Re: IGCutter v0.5 beta released

My files are software encoded 2 B 5 I frames 3.5Mb . I will attach the log file of IGcutter in a couple of hrs . I got to go off .

I would like to cut right from zero of the files. I seem to get 1 sec of time before I can press spacebar to add the cut of the 2minute padding I use before the show starts . I suppose manually editing the xml file I could do this but please make it possible in the gui .

What does Auto-cut chapters mean in the Processor ?

It must be bad files. The 2am to 3am file had 1 bad spot and 4pm to 5pm one had 2 bad spots . At 4pm to 5pm I use the computer more . What was it doing at 2am to 3 am though ? Why is the PS < 0 ? Might have to bug report to Snapstream . I do not have any other editors to test with .

That log file is nice so I dont have to see (eyes) if the video was processed ok .

I do not have highspeed so I only could send abount 40megs . Where do I upload a sample capture ? I think a sample will not have problems though.

Log file below .

Re: IGCutter v0.5 beta released

vogelap: Good idea about an Undo key; I actually have the code for that in there, but it's commented out for some reason :/. Hmm, your playback problem is very strange. Have you noticed any other program (specifically, programs that use DirectShow) having that problem? The default decoder is specified in the Registry somewhere, and I'm not sure how to change it (besides uninstalling it); WMP should use that same default decoder, as any other DirectShow app.

BenH: Press S (Stop), then press the spacebar to mark 0 as the start. What happens when you try playing that problem clip in WMP or BTV? It's possible the timestamp error won't affect anything noticeably.

Re: IGCutter v0.5 beta released

Just installed the program tonight and all I can say is WOW- amazing work!

One question I have is a follow-up to something I saw in a previous forum: Is there anyway to move the show data over to the new file? I see the cutads program appears to do that, but I'm a big fan of what you've made here and that is the only feature I find missing?

Woo hoo! Should be easy to implement then, eh?

No problems at all with anything else, I think. My decoder is currently set to Intervideo, but I would be willing to switch it to something else to test...

How shall we proceed from here?

Re: IGCutter v0.5 beta released

Yikes , I notice now that files are 45 mins long but play for 1 hr in BTV . The info in media player was saying they are 1hr long but the would play after the 45 minute mark .

Would haveing 5 I frames and 2 B frames mess things up ? I think hardware enocoders use 4 I frames and 2 B frames . I am using VBR also . That makes me think to try constant video rate . VBR video is not as easy to edit lossless.

I will try encodeing mpeg2 from other sources . 1st from DVD Movie Factory and maybe from Tempgenc .

Re: IGCutter v0.5 beta released

Well, I open an MPG file (1.5Gig) and I get "FAILED(hr=0x8007007e) in pGB->RenderFile(wFile,NULL)".
I should note that I'm not running this on my BTV system, but on my main working box (WinXP Pro, latest everything). I haven't done anything specific in terms of encoders/decoders, though I've run a couple of other editor packaged (PMPGEnc, MPEG2VCR, etc) with no issues.

How can I troubleshoot from here?

Brad.

Re: IGCutter v0.5 beta released

wihtpc: Yes, it is currently possible: IGC Processor can call an external program after every file is processed. I haven't had time to research which programs/scripts are available for transfering show info for BTV 3.5, but there should be at least one that would work. I'll put up step-by-step instructions, once I get around to it (I'm currently the sickest I've been for many years ).

vogelap: Do you have PowerDVD or WinDVD on your computer? If not, installing a trial of one of those should change the default DirectShow decoder for MPEG-2.

BenH: While harmless (the video is completely intact, just the duration is reported incorrectly), that's certainly annoying. The old version of mpgtx had that problem, but I fixed it and haven't had any problems since with my PVR-250-generated MPEG-2 files. Could you make a short recording (maybe half a minute long) that exhibits that problem when cut, and send me the original (you could use yousendit.com)?

bpsmicro: Can you play that file in WMP? If not, then your problem is that you don't have any DirectShow-compatible MPEG-2 decoder installed on your computer.

Re: IGCutter v0.5 beta released

I had one good 1hr SG1 Fri with cuting with VBR Software encodeing . But the next one was bad . Nothing you can do IGx89 do fix bad encodeing . The good one plays fine in media player but has wrong duration listed. In BTV it plays slow . In DVD Movie Factory 2.0 it is fine and reports fine . I did not burn to dvd yet but previewing in DVD Movie Factory it works fine .

IGx89 You have Hotmail sent to you from me . One=45.5MB and one is 30.5 . That is a lot of uploading for Dialup .
