beyond tv for sony vaio PCV-W700G?

I'm sorry for such an ultra-newbie question, but I've searched and come up empty-handed.

I've got a pc (see title!) and I was trying to figure out from the beyond tv requirements what I've got and what I need. But I can't figure out what's integrated into my system! All the talk about tuner cards, receivers, and video cards has me really confused. I know I've got an external cable box hooked up to my pc and I'm watching tv, but I don't know what brands and what specs are there.

This is all the info I could find: Giga Pocket MPEG2 Realtime Encoder board with TV Tuner.

Can anyone help me?

tia!

Re: beyond tv for sony vaio PCV-W700G?

I also found this information regarding stuff on my pc on a website that had specs:

"The SIS 651 graphics card provides 32MB of dedicated video memory and works with the installed Giga Pocket MPEG-2 Realtime Encoder Board/TV Tuner to let you watch and record live television right on your PC, making digitizing TV footage a breeze."

Can anyone tell me if I have a tuner card that'll work with snapstream?
Or a video card?

Please, someone, help!!!

I don't have any idea. Why not just download the free trial and give it a try?

Re: beyond tv for sony vaio PCV-W700G?

Searching the forums could provide more info for you.

Here's a thread that would be of interest to you:
"the gigapocket card is proprietary and will not work with beyondtv. if you want to use beyondtv you would have to replace / add another tuner device"

Here's a list of support capture cards.

Also, if you go ahead and replace that gigapocket card with a supported one (I'd recommend a Hauppauge PVR150) and want to hook the PC up to your TV, then you may want to consider upgrading that graphics card as it doesn't sound like it'll have enough horse power. Although try it out and see first.
