Getting used to card - using WinTV. Comparison to BTV?

So I installed the BTV trial last night, and have every intention of buying a license, I just figured I would tool around and learn it first.

I have a PVR-150 card and installed the software that came with it, WinTV, the TitanTV scheduler, etc.

WOW is BTV different so far (from what I can see in a good/easier way). Here are the few questions I have...

1. The one thing I have not figured out by tinkering or reading is how to quickly or easily change to a specific channel. I know on WinTV you can right click in the middle of the channel up/down and all applicable channels appear...how does BTV do this?

2. Picture quality watching Live TV AND recording. Is there a difference in the software that makes quality better or worse?

Also to clarify - I am using the drivers that came on the Hauppage CD for my 150 card. They appear to be the latest drivers off the site, so I received a fairly recent box. I have not installed any BTV drivers for my 150 card, but I have also not had ANY driver-related issues using BTV all last night and today.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know how to change channels either - if you don't count using a remote. But, hm.. wait a sec .. could it be page up/down? It is. Could it be arrow up/down? It is. How about typing 42? It works. What have you been tinkering with?

Thanks for the help Flavius (insert comment here about unwarranted sarcasm).

I've been using the mouse if you need to know. You know, that cute little thing that sits next to your keyboard? The one you have on the floor and keep stepping on looking for something to happen?

/sarcasm off

I agree.
The sarcasm was unnecessary.

I am not at my Beyond TV computer right now, but I dont know any other way of changing channels with the mouse. I usually go through the program guide anyway. Changing channels is slow anyway because it has to buffer a few seconds worth of info before it starts playing the channel.

You guys really are amazing. There are no up and down arrows in the HUD?

hahahaha, it's not clear in the manual by looking at the index, except for the figures for keyboard commands. Just type in the channel numbers. There's also a command to go up and down a channel as well.

Re: Getting used to card - using WinTV. Comparison to BTV?

Again, thanks for the comments - I found out what I was curious on (and that I could not find in a manual), and that is if you want to change channels with the mouse, there is no "quick menu" that pops up or is accessible to select a single channel out of all of them. This is not a bad thing, I just wanted to make sure I was not missing something.

Single channel surfing is relatively obvious flavius. You need to reconsider using "flaminius" instead.

In terms of my second question, is there a quality difference that the TV software itself makes (ie BTV versus WinTV) or is it all in the drivers?

I have traditionally only upgraded my drivers when necessary - IE if they are working, don't screw with em!
