High Definition TV with BTV?

I'm new here, so any information people can give me would be appreciated.

Does BTV offer the ability to record HD programming? If so, what kind of hardware/software is needed to do this?

Thanks.

No, BTV does not support HD recording. Some people have been waiting for SS to implement this. I hope they have it on their radar screen.

Although it does not record HDTV, it will record SD fro HD channels on cable.

Re: High Definition TV with BTV?

Recording HD is very much an emerging technology at the moment as there are different formats and the hardware capture cards seem a little immature right now. The only sure way to record HD is via your cable/satellite provider's own DVR. Neither BTV nor Sage will do HD at the moment. I think MCE will do OTA HD with a capture card. Some people have success with unencrypted cable HD using Fusion.

Much more info on this is available over at the AVS forums: www.avsforum.com

Re: High Definition TV with BTV?

I for one am dying to get an HD version of BTV. I use the Fusion card with great success on both cable (256 and 64 qam) and OTA signals. In fact I'm watching ABC in HD right now off my comcast cable. I'd pay quite a bit of money to upgrade my BTV to work with the fusion cards. Whoever (sage, mce, btv) makes it work first is sure to have quite a cashcow on their hands.... Maybe we can get a bunch of people together to show the interest in HDBTV, perhaps a paypal donation to pay the BTV guys to make a viable solution...

OTA HD support is definitely on our radar -- see this KB article.
