ATI RW as Universal Remote?

Hello, I have a question or 2. I have the original ATI Remote Wonder and myBlaster. With this combination(and the right software) be able to control my IR devices, such as my TV, Stereo, Xbox, etc...?

Now if this is possible, would I be able to make it function like a universal remote with HEREMOTE? I would like to press the "TV" button and have that switch to a "TV Mode" where it would just control the TV. Will this allow me to do so, or will I have to use more advanced software, like Girder?

Re: ATI RW as Universal Remote?

I use an original RW with Girder and a USB-UIRT. Works very well and does what you describe (I use the 'power' button on the remote to turn on the TV and receiver, and the volume control works the main volume on the receiver via IR). Using Girder's 'states' and 'app sensing' the number buttons can either control BTV, BM or the STB directly, and switch the video input on the TV from the PC to STB (for HDTV viewing).

Only thing it won't do is that ATI's API for the original RW won't expose the TV, DVD, etc buttons for programming. From memory, I think only the Web and 'hand' buttons are programmable.

I have no experience of HERemote, but Girder was very easy to learn.

Nice. I read in the Girder forums if I use the X10/Ati drivers they have for download, then it unlocks all the buttons.

Really? That would be cool. I know you can access all the buttons on the RW II, but I thought the RW I was different. Please post back with your results if you try these drivers.
