Any Dish Network Dual Tuner people here?
I have a old Dish Network receiver, the 2700, and also I have the 4700. I want to run one to my Hauppauge WinTV PVR-USB2 for recording exclusively. I want to run the other, the 4700, to my WinTV Go for Live TV viewing exclusively. My only problem is that the 2 receivers take very similar codes, so when one changes channels, it will also change the other's channel, which is something I don't want.
I could just forgo the computer and run the 4700 straight in to the TV, but I would like to keep the simplicity of having just my Remote Wonder to control everything. Any work arounds for this? The Dish Network receivers don't have serial control, so I can't use that. Also, I have a USB IRDA that I used to send files to my old Cell phone via IR. I realize that this is different than the standard IR device and that the range is limited, but Girder has an unofficial driver. What I was thinking, was that I can just tape the IRDA directly in front of the live tv receiver and block it off so that the myBlaster signal doesn't reach it. Re: Any Dish Network Dual Tuner people here?
I understand your issue. I have a dual tuner setup for BTV using two 311s. They work off of the same IR frequencies. There are a few options to try:
1) put clear tape of the IR section of the receiver and the IR blaster ... and put them as close to each other as possible. Hopefully, the receiver you have dedicated to your computer will not pick-up the signal from your remote ... and the receiver dedicated to your tv will not get the signal from your IR blaster. You can back-off this slightly by cutting thin holes in the tape until it works consistently. 2) (what I have done) create a cardboard housing that incases your IR blaster and the IR section of the receiver dedicated to the computer. It is ugly, but works great. I made two of these and have had no issues for 3 months. I house my receivers vertically and they stand next to each other with the IR section at the bottom. 3) If one of your receivers supports UHF for the remote, use it for your TV, cover its IR section with black electrical tape, and cover the IR immiter on your remote with the same tape ... or maybe black nail polish. Then the TV receiver will not receive any IR instructions and the TV remote will not send any. I think this will also cease the universal remote aspect too ... Good luck.

Re: Any Dish Network Dual Tuner people here?
For Dishnetwork Receiver that do allow for diff remote address you need try both way to which one allow you channel the remote address
1: Press the SAT button on your remote until all four MODE button light up then the SAT button should be flashes red, then enter the number of the new remote address using the remote number pad - i.e. 03 to set to address 3, press the # button and then press the REC button 2: Press the SAT button on your remote until all four MODE button light up then the SAT button should be flashes red, then enter the number of the new remote address using the remote number pad - i.e. 03 to set to address 3, press the # button and then press the REC button wait for SAT button to stop flashing red then press the REC button then system information screen update with the new remote address just set. Just matter of set each remote address ocen that done then maybe your myBlaster can support thoses diff IR codes but if it can't read them codes then your only real option is a USB-UIRT and maybe you all so want pick up Dual IR Emitters form here http://smarthome.com/8170.html which can conn to back of USB-UIRT but if want to do zone then you need Stereo 1/8 Dual IR Emitters. The nice thing about Dish 301 and maybe some older one to I heard that they can do as min 16 diff remote address on Dish Receiver and I know one SageTV user is run 4 Dish Receiver with the USB-UIRT with a pair of Dual IR Emitters and one 1/8 Mono Y Adapter. But David idea sound good to.
