Question nVidia Video Playback Cards- HDTV

I am currently using an ATI video card for my BTV "experience" and as far as high resolutions are concerned (NON S-Video connections), I cannot get the picture I want without slight glitches or problems in playback when using Beyond TV.

How big of a difference will putting an nVidia FX5700 (or better) card in my system make when using Beyond TV? How well will it produce a sharp picture if I am NOT using the S-video output?

My ATI card produces a VERY nice playback picture using hardware de-interlacing in 3D mode but as soon as I pause, rewind, ff, or change channels it gets choppy.
Is Snapstream working on a fix for ATI card issues or would I be better off just getting an nVidia card instead of waiting for BTV to come up with a solution?

I haven't read anything on ATI support and I certainly haven't read ANY posts about how well their ATI card works with BTV.

Re: nVidia Video Playback Cards- HDTV

You sure it is an ATI issue? Sounds exactly like the DX9 bug that is out there.

Re: nVidia Video Playback Cards- HDTV

It just may be...

If someone can confirm that nVidia users are experiencing the same kind of problems, I'd feel a lot better.

A lot of this information is scattered all over different forums right now and it's freaking confusing. I've read so far that the ATI Cyberlink codecs are to blame, that the NVDVD codecs will work with DX9c, and other mind-numbing interpretations on why tearing, blurring, artifacts, etc... are happening.

If it's a DirectX 9.0c problem, then we're stuck in a waiting game for everything to be resolved? Frustrating isn't it? Especially when information found in this forum makes nVidia cards out to be the answer.

Don't get me wrong, BTV works great and I like it but, I intended to use it in "other than S-video" configurations.
