playinjg x box

Since the Haupage card, which came with my BTV program, does have video and audio ports, can I use my computer monitor to play with my x box?

Re: playing x box

I am using my computer in my bedroom to second as a tv. Since the Haupage card has ports that I can hook up to a video and audio source, can I play X Box on my computer?

Hey i have dont it with my computer, the only thing is with my xbox i used a coaxel cable to do it and i bought the xbox coaxile thing u can get one cheaper if u dont by microsoft, i have not tried it with audio video cause the coaxel switch recognizes it on chanel 3 or 4 normally so all u have to do is have it on that channel and play, i didn't use btv thow i had another program at the time and have not tried it with btc, u may loose sound or it may be to fuzzy it was like that for me so i mutted it.

Re: playinjg x box

you can use a hauppage card to play xbox, but you can't use beyond tv, you have to use wintv and go into the registry and go to localmachine/software/hauppage/hcwtvWnd and change the livepreview key to 1 and just play through the composite connections on your tv card through wintv and there should no longer be a 2 second or so delay for the xbox. I dont know how this effects other uses of wintv though, I only use it for xbox and i use beyond for tv stuff

You cannot play video games through btv, there are some buffers and what not that are used to encode the video and because of this the images/sound on the screen through btv would be delayed by at least a second or two. This delay would be far too long to play any type of video game (pressing shoot then waiting 2 seconds to see if you hit your target is not exactly practicle).

As for the wintv software, its video is piped straight to the video card/screen and is not buffered like btv does (because wintv does not have things like the ability to pause live tv). So in that case you ‘might’ be able to play video games using that type of setup.

By-pass the capture card. Get the HDTV pack for the xbox (Component out) and a Component-VGA transcoder (adapter). Hook it up directly!
