PVR500 Vertical Dashed Line

Hi

I’ve just installed the PVR500 into my HTPC box. Installation of the hardware and the drivers seemed to work fine.

I am having a problem with one of the tuners. There is a double-vertical line (dashed) showing about 1/3rd from the right side of the screen. This only appears on one of the available tuners. There was a program on the install CD called AMCap_DX9.exe and I used this to determine that it is Tuner 1 that has the problem.

I am not sure if this is a hardware problem, or whether it is a driver issue. I looked on the Hauppauge web site and the drivers on the supplied CD are the same as the ones they have for download.

I’ve tried using the HWCLEAR utility and rebooting/reinstalling etc the problem remains.

My system is a Shuttle SN41G2 with Athlon 2500 and an NFORCE2 motherboard.

Is anyone else having this problem?
Thanks

Re: PVR500 Vertical Dashed Line

Thanks for the response.

It's on every channel when Tuner 1 is being used.

What's weird about it, is it is more prominent when there is white in that area of the screen, other light tones (like skin tones etc), the line starts to disappear.

I must admit I am very confused, and there seems to be nothing on the web about this issue which makes me think it could be bad card....which will be annoying as I have waited over a month for buy.com to ship this one!!!

Also, on a seperate note, the picture on this tuner seems a lot 'muddier/dull' than the single PVR250 that it replaced. I have not played with any setting yet though as I have been concentrating on tracking down the vertical line issue.

Re: PVR500 Vertical Dashed Line

I hooked up a cable box I had kicking around to the composite input and the 2 lines appeared.

Hope this helps in tracking down the cause.

Thanks for your help.

Re: PVR500 Vertical Dashed Line

So this is in Beyond TV? Does this mean that the PVR-500 is finally supported?

Re: PVR500 Vertical Dashed Line

Hi SHS

Thanks for the response.

Sorry for not responding sooner, was out of town for the weekend.

I'm sending it back to buy.com today, and have requested a replacement, although they are currently out of stock again so it will probably be a few weeks before I get my new one.

Re: PVR500 Vertical Dashed Line

Just as a follow up,

I never got around to sending it back to buy.com (got as far as printing the pre-paid UPS label). Good thing I didn't. I got an email from Hauppauge tech support earlier today saying that they are sure that it is a defective card, and that they want me to send it to them so they can check it out. Hopefully this will work out better as they will hopefully have replacements in stock (buy.com AFAIK is still out), so I should get a working one sooner to play with!!).
