Re: Thumbs up for Nvidia's new DVD decoder

Yeah, I even played back all my old stored TV shows and they look way clear now too. It definitely gives TiVo a run for it's money

Re: Thumbs up for Nvidia's new DVD decoder

I'm a little disappointed because I installed this new decoder and I'm still getting the washed out picture, especially with scenes that contain a majority of white images. What setting are you using for De-Interlacing Mode? Is it better to use Overlay or 3D Accelerated for Video Renderer?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Thumbs up for Nvidia's new DVD decoder

Try all settings.

I specifically use hardware de-interlace with 3D accel and that works great.
Also make sure you use all current release drivers for you Hauppauge card and your vid card

Re: Thumbs up for Nvidia's new DVD decoder

I just installed the trial version and it does look pretty good in BTV.

One question though: how do you get Beyond Media to recognize the decoder? Should it show up automatically in the DVD settings, because doesn't on my PC... Is there an equivalent xml hack?

Cheers,

Mark

Please see post#11 of this string on page 1 here: http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/show...6&postcount=11

But make sure you completely close BTV before you edit the xml file. Then restart BTV

Re: Thumbs up for Nvidia's new DVD decoder

Thanks, but BTV isn't the problem - I have that working fine. I'm trying to get the decoder to show up in Beyond Media. There's a file that seems to be similar called BeyondMediaSettings.xml (or similar - I'm away from that PC right now), but editing that file seems to result in a 'filter error' in BM.

Re: Thumbs up for Nvidia's new DVD decoder

Any ATI users using this codec? I'm interested in finding out if it out-performs what I'm using now.
I'm currently running Intervideo (from WinDVD 6 Platinum) and it's really good but still has slight (but bearable) artifacts due to the DirectX 9.0c

Details of this driver states that it works with ATI Radeon cards. I tried this out and set up the configuration .xml file to see the codec in BTV.

Though it may be possible, I couldn't get this to work. In fact, with this program installed, I couldn't get BTV to go into live TV at all. Only until I uninstalled these drivers did I get things working again.

From what I've seen in the past, some of these Mpeg-2 DVD decoders are made specifically to make use of available hardware accelleration on their own brand video card. If it's optimised for NVidia Graphic cards, I would think it would work best there. Maybe also with the ATI, but I really can't see a company designing a "better" DVD decoder to work well with the competition's hardware. I have both Nvidai and ATI cards here to test. I think I'll give it a go and see what happens.

I don't seem to have a customsettings.xml file. Do you need to have BM installed in order to use this with BTV?

Unless you have 'show common extension' check in 'Folder settings' it may just show up as customsettings

Cheers

Re: Thumbs up for Nvidia's new DVD decoder

Perhaps someone here can help me out. I have installed the Nvidia codec and Windows Media Player finds and uses it just fine. However, the option to choose that codec does not appear in BTV's Admin Setup. I can see two Haupp codecs and the interwin (or whatever it's called) codec but not the Nvidia one. I checked the customsettings file and the listing for the Nvidia codec was all ready there, although not exactly the same as the one posted elsewhere in this thread.

I am running the latest version of BTV (downloaded just a few days ago) with a Haupp WinTV-150 and a Nvidia G-Force 440 graphics card, all on a fresh install of Win2k. Nothing else is installed on this system.

Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Thumbs up for Nvidia's new DVD decoder

check this in the customsettings.xml file, the GUID setting of NVDVD should be: 71E4616A-DB5E-452B-8CA5-71D9CC7805E9

check here: \documents and settings\all users\application data\snapstream\beyond tv\

Note -- the application data folder may be set to hidden... so you might need to change Folder Options -- and set it to display hidden files/folders.
