Cable box time server?

Recently my PC has been ~2 minutes fast compared to my cable company. I gave up using XP's internet time and purchased Chronograph by AltrixSoft to try and fix my issue. It seems to do a great job because I can schedule it to synch on the hour or less if need be. Another cool option with this software is it can also turn the pc it is on as a time server and then have others connect to it as the local time server.

But I digress...

What be really cool if a the cable or sat box could be used as a time server that we could use to make sure our HTPCs are exactly synched with its time or the providers. Is there a way this can be done?

An easy and free way to get better control of XP's time syncronization is to set the time polling interval to a smaller value. If you paste the following text into a .REG file and doubleclick, it will change the polling interval to 12hrs. which helped keep BTV pretty much in sync with my cable box. The default polling interval in XP is 7 days so this definitely helps. You can set it lower if you like. The setting is the hex equivalent of the number of seconds you want to wait until the next update. It would be cool if we could sync with the cable box though

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\W32Time\TimeProviders\NtpClient]
"SpecialPollInterval"=dword:0000A8C0

Edit: Not sure why the forum does this but make sure you remove any spaces found in the above. I noticed the word 'Services' has a space.
