Frame buffer

I am currently running BTV3.5 with an ATI 9600 ,and WinTv250. Under the setting on my ATI card for overlay I have an option called Theater mode while my displays are in clone mode. from what I understand this option allows application to write directly to the frame buffer for TV out on my video card. So if I am running the Wintv 2000 application it will write video information directly to the frame buffer. the results are having my television set display only the video of live TV or a recording and my PC screen displaying the application. Even if the application is minimized the video stream is still sent to my TV. This also works for windows media player. Its truly an assume feature.

Is there anyway to get beyond TV to take advantage of this feature. From what I understand Nvidia has the same features.

Re: Frame buffer

Yes you can use that "theatre mode" with BTV.
I do it all the time when I want to use my computer monitor for normal desktop stuff while the Tvs in the house continue to display BTV / Video.

BTV must be set to Overlay Playback to use theatre mode.

The way I use it though I don't get the info bar and other "overlays" display on my TV (secondary monitor) but they show up on primary.
Depending what your aim is you can switch primary and secondary monitors (try it it'll become more understandable than I can describe it).
