Any compatability problems with the MPEG files?

I am primarily after getting MPEG 2 files from TV that I can edit and work with in standard programs. Has anyone worked with the MPEG files encoded through the BTV set up in Windows Movie Maker, Adobe Premiere, etc?

I haven't used those tools, but I edit with Womble Mpeg Video Wizard all of the time. I also edit with the Intervideo WinDVD Creator

I have used various Ulead products. No problems.

You may want to check out www.canopus.com for advanced hardware/software too.

Re: Any compatability problems with the MPEG files?

One thing to keep in mind is that if you are using a hardware encode card, the way the MPEG-2 bitstream comes out has nothing to do with our software since all the encoding is done by a chip on the card. With that in mind, I can tell you that most of the hardware encode cards out there produce MPEG-2 bitstreams that are compatible with most video editing packages. And if you are using a card without hardware encoding, Beyond TV 3.5's software encoder also produces MPEG-2 bitstreams that work in most video editing packages (in contrast with the software encoder in previous versions of Beyond TV).

Re: Any compatability problems with the MPEG files?

Thanks for the input.
I got BTV specifically to have ability to edit MPEG files it creates... and have found neither MM (2.1) nor the new Adobe Premier Elements will even accept the MPEG files created by BTV. I am still in the process of exploring codec and other issues.

I am using the PVRBTV250 hardware encoder.

DID ANYONE HAVE EITHER PROGRAM ACCEPT A BTV FILE IN MPEG 2 FORMAT?

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF CODEC CONFLICTS OR FIXES?

Only solution suggested, that of re-compressing / converting via TMPGE or similar... seems an unforunate ways of redundant time and likley will degrade files further.
