Re: Wap and Streaming Snapstream
Yep, I've done it on a 3G phone - but you don't use WAP.
My phone, a Motorola A925, has a mini Opera browser and a downlink speed of 384K. 500Mb worth of traffic is only A$99 as well. US$70-something. |

Re: Wap and Streaming Snapstream
Wap on cellphone is pretty much useless. The connections just suck. You can stream via wifi if you have a smartphone or pocket pc phone.
I would say wait a year or so and then hopefully we will have some fast cell networks for data. and the companies won't rape you on data prices like they do now. AT&T - 80 dollars a month for unlimited data and it is a 130 Kbps connection. what a joke.

Re: Wap and Streaming Snapstream
Well its definetly something to look forward too, then i can goto the silly shows my wife wants to see and not miss my games =) And when you say "wifi" do you mean just typical wireless broadband access? And srigby, $70 a month is a little steep (or do you pay per mb not monthly?). I think verizon offers something like that but also at that kind of price. I was just hoping to use the Ipaq quality setting to stream at a minimum.

That is a little pricy. When I say wifi I mean Wireless Lan Card. I wish we had 3G. I think they might have it in some places but it isn't as fast as scrigby's. Then again if they are charging that much I don't know if I would want it.

Re: Wap and Streaming Snapstream
$US70 for 500Mb @ 384K is phenomenally good compared to the rest of the market. Standard GPRS charges are 2c per Kb @ 48K.
www.three.com.au if you're interested. Can't wait for the new phone with the built-in RealPlayer - then I can listen to all my streaming stations. |

I can't wait for cellphones to drop all the silly PDA features and become just plain phones again
